In this Art History Survey course, we will peer behind the veil of wars, politics, and trade to take an intimate look at the human story through the lens of art, culture, and the artists who shaped and defined the human condition throughout the ages. With a passion for relaying this history as a story, this course traces human artistic expression chronologically and globally, from its earliest evidence in prehistory to the present day. Using the universally acclaimed textbook Art History by Marilyn Stokstad and Michael W. Cothern, the information and academic rigor of this course matches a college-level survey.

This class is designed for anyone eager to appreciate art, gain a deeper understanding of history, or explore the intersection of both. Artists will find that deepening their knowledge of art history will profoundly inform their own practice, empowering them to actively contribute as a living participant in the ever-ongoing history of art.
