Ghosthouse Foundation for The Arts
The Ghosthouse Foundation for the Arts is a 501-C3 nonprofit initiative dedicated to preserving rigorous artistic training, expanding access to classical arts education, and supporting emerging artists through scholarships, awards, and public programming.
The Foundation operates in partnership with Ghosthouse Fine Art Studio, supporting its educational and community-focused initiatives.
Mission Statement
The Ghosthouse Foundation for the Arts exists to support serious artistic training rooted in historical practice, to reduce financial barriers for dedicated students, and to foster a cultural environment where skill, discipline, and beauty are valued and sustained.
Traditional studio-based art education and mentorship has steadily disappeared from most academic institutions, leaving limited access to rigorous training in drawing, painting, and sculpture. At the same time, the cost of education continues to rise, placing serious study out of reach for many committed students.
The Foundation currently supports:
• Scholarships and class access for students of Ghosthouse Fine Art Studio, including full-tuition class scholarships and targeted materials support to reduce financial barriers to serious study
• Merit-based grants and awards for emerging and mid-career artists working in drawing, painting, and sculpture, supporting the creation of focused bodies of work rooted in traditional practice
• Fellowships and residencies that provide artists and educators with time, space, and financial support to pursue artistic growth, research, and travel, paired with public exhibitions and educational programming
• Public lectures, demonstrations, workshops, and exhibitions that return funded work to the community and contribute to the cultural life of Grand Rapids and the state of Michigan
• Professional development support for educators and instructors, strengthening the quality and continuity of rigorous arts education within Ghosthouse programs.
Donations
Donations to the Ghosthouse Foundation for the Arts directly support scholarships, awards, educational programming, and materials access. Administrative costs are kept intentionally low, and funds are used exclusively for educational and charitable purposes.
Support may be given as a one-time contribution, recurring monthly donation, or business sponsorship. In-kind support and material donations are also welcomed.
Business supporters will be acknowledged on our website and at public events, with recognition scaled to the level of support. Anonymous donations are always respected.
