Over four weeks, students will study human anatomy in depth by creating an écorché sculpture — a figure modeled with exposed musculature to reveal the structure beneath the skin. Beginning with a skeletal armature, participants will build each major muscle group in clay, learning their form, function, and relationship to the whole figure. This structured, hands-on process deepens anatomical understanding, sharpens observational skills, and strengthens accuracy in both sculpture and drawing. No prior sculpting experience required, but a commitment to detail and careful study is necessary.

Students will be working in Oil Based Clay, which does not harden or dry. To keep class costs low, student works will be recycled at the end of class unless the student wishes to purchase the clay for themselves. We sell clay at cost by weight at the end of each sculpture class.
