This three-week plein air fundamentals course invites students to immerse themselves in nature while developing confidence in outdoor landscape painting. The focus will be on establishing strong starts—learning how to quickly set composition, value structure, and color harmony—and on capturing the immediate effect of light and atmosphere in your painting.
Focus will be placed on building strategies to simplify complex scenes and respond directly to nature. If you are new to plein air painting, this class is an excellent precursor to our upcoming weekend Autumn Plein Air Immersive with painter Mary Jane Ward, on November 1st & 2nd.
*Students will be provided with pochade (painting) boxes and all necessary materials, will meet at Ghosthouse, and are welcome to carpool if they choose.
